“The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make beautiful children.” - Cheryl Lavender
My name is Lisa Marie Lebron, and I am the 1st-8th grade music teacher here at CMCS. I will be entering my 5th year of classroom teaching this fall and 7th year of private studio teaching. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from The University of Tampa with a focus on chorus and voice. I will be graduating in the summer of 2020 with a Master of Arts in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Also, I will be starting my certification in World Music Drumming this upcoming summer.
Besides my adventures in teaching, I still actively perform in the community and am a member of the Opera Tampa Chorus housed at The Straz Center.
As a teacher, my goal is to create an environment where students have the opportunity to develop their musicianship and learn to use music to aid them in all areas and stages of their lives. In the classroom, we follow the Florida Music Standards for K-12, and I mainly use Orff and Kodaly teaching methods. Each student receives their own portfolio that they will carry out throughout their time at the school. Besides our theory and portfolio work, we spend a lot of time singing and playing instruments.
